Split a PDF

Splitting a PDF document is fairly simple if you have the right tool, but you might be wondering when you would need to do this. While there are dozens of examples, this will cover some of the most common ones that you’ll encounter.

Table of Contents

  • Resume and Cover Letter
  • Individual Chapters
  • Reduce File Size
  • Removing a Mistake
  • Workbooks

Resume and Cover Letter

If you created a resume and cover letter, then they might be together in the same PDF. This might be fine for some employers, but many want to see them separately.

Instead of redoing both documents and saving them individually, you could just split them. If you split PDF documents, then you can save each page individually.

This means that you can easily separate both pages without doing any work.

Individual Chapters

Every book is split into multiple chapters. There might be one or two chapters that you find exceptionally useful and you want to separate them. This can be useful as a study guide or if you’re a teacher and you only want your students to see these select chapters.

Splitting the entire book PDF file allows you to isolate these chapters. You can also choose to save these chapters as one unified PDF, or you can save each chapter individually. You can even break it down further and save a few pages rather than a whole chapter.

Reduce File Size

PDF files are typically on the smaller side compared to video files and images, but some PDFs can get very big. This is especially true if the file is hundreds of pages long or includes multimedia files.

If you need to reduce the file size but you don’t want to reduce quality, then splitting the file is the best way. If there are only certain pages that you need, then you can extract those pages with ease.

If the entire PDF is important, then splitting is still a good idea as each isolated file will be smaller than the original PDF.

Removing a Mistake

While small mistakes can often be ignored, there might be times when you accidentally included false or inaccurate information in your reports. Sometimes, there might be one or multiple pages that need to be removed in order to improve the entirety of your report.

Splitting the PDF and taking out these bad pages could be the fastest way to improve the overall document. Instead of rewriting everything from scratch, you can simply remove the pages and it will be like they were never there in the first place.

Workbooks

There are many workbooks that have useful exercises for students or clients. The problem is that it might be difficult to find a specific worksheet that you want. You can split the PDF workbook and isolate the most important worksheets for your needs.

This makes it far easier to find worksheets that you commonly use throughout the day.

Conclusion– Splitting a PDF can be very handy if you need to isolate or remove pages. Not only that, but this is very simple if you have the right tools at your disposal.
