Meta has unveiled its latest innovations in smart eyewear, introducing the new Ray-Ban Meta Glasses and the Meta Ray-Ban Display glasses at the Meta Connect 2025 event. These smart glasses combine stylish design with advanced AI and augmented reality features, marking a significant step for wearable technology.
The Meta Ray-Ban Display glasses, priced at $799 are Meta’s first consumer-ready smart glasses with an integrated full-color digital screen built into the right lens. This play remains invisible during regular use but activates for essential functions such as messages, video calls and navigation.
Users can control the glasses with a unique Meta Neural Band, a wrist-worn device that reads subtle muscle signals from finger movements and converts them into commands. Simple gestures, such as scrolling, selecting, and adjusting volume, are performed through movements of the wrist and fingers.
The wristband offers 18 hours of battery life, water resistance and is designed with durable materials used in the construction of Mars Rover crash pads.
Mark Zuckerberg, Meta’s CEO, highlighted the significance of this product by explaining that glasses are the perfect form factor for personal “superintelligence.” These glasses allow users to stay engaged with their surroundings while accessing AI-powered assistance that improves communication, memory and senses.
Despite some minor hiccups during the live demonstration, Zuckerberg confirmed these glasses are production-ready and will be available from September 30 at select stores in the U.S. with planned availability in other countries in early 2026.
Alongside the Meta Ray-Ban Display, Meta also launched the second generation of the Ray-Ban Meta glasses. These updated smart glasses offer nearly double the battery life of the original model, lasting up to eight hours per charge versus four hours previously.
The battery case now provides 48 additional hours, improved from 36 hours before. Camera capabilities have been enhanced to support 3K Ultra HD video recording at up to 60 frames per second, plus HDR support. The glasses come in the familiar Wayfarer, Skyler, and Headliner frames. Prices start at $379.
Meta continues to strengthen its collaboration with eyewear leader Essilor Luxottica, which helps deliver stylish yet functional designs that resemble traditional eyewear. The Ray-Ban Meta Line remains popular, having sold millions worldwide.
In addition to these consumer models, Meta announced Oakley Meta Vanguard smart glasses aimed at athletes, launching October 21 for $499. These are targeted at snowboarding, mountain biking and other high-intensity sports.
With these new offerings, Meta is aiming to mainstream AI powered smart glasses, blending advanced technology with everyday practicality. The Ray-Ban Meta series and the new Display glasses showcase significant improvements in battery life, camera technology and user interface, signaling a growing market for wearable AI devices.
In summary, Meta’s newest Ray-Ban smart glasses offer stylish designs, advanced AI features through an integrated display and wristband controls, longer usage times, enhanced video capture and a strong push toward making AI glasses part of daily life.
