The Converse basketball family has a new son to have a holiday dinner with, and he comes in a family name. With 18 points per game, Atlanta Hawks guard Nickeil Alexander -Walker has played a consistent role in the Southeast division -leading ATL team this season and the 27-year-old has more attention than ever, and a new show deal with his cousin and Canadian National Team running mate, Shai Gilgeous -Alexander.
“I’ve always approached basketball as a way to express who I am. Partnering with Converse gives me the space to be creative not just in how I play, but in how I show up ” Alexander -Walker said.
“Converse values individuality, and that’s something I’ve carried with me. I’m excited to join a team that shares my mindset.”
MVP, NBA champion and Oklahoma City Thunder superstar Shai Gilgeous -Alexander has a few things that he loves, and he is not afraid to share it with the world. Naturally, there is basketball, and then there is fashion, but family comes in first, just above all other things, and since he named his last three colorways of the Converse Shai 001 after his wife, mother, and brother, we have no doubts that he did have some influence in bringing Alexander -Walker into the mix of brand names.
Besides SGA, Alexander -Walker is part of a Converse basketball team alongside Kelly Oubre and Payton Prichard that aim at redefining itself against a new generation of basketball sneakers. That was not a new PEs announcement, but it is worth anticipating Alexander -Walker wearing the Shai 001 all season, and it is not surprising that he would pull some exclusive colorway or two; he is family, as well.
